Sale & Purchase becomes the foundation.
Optima establishes its Sale & Purchase activity as a core pillar, building deep relationships with Greek, European, and Asian shipowners. The desk earns its reputation by closing the deal at the right level, every cycle.
East, where shipping moves.
In 2004, Optima Asia Shanghai office opens, followed by Dubai in 2005. Maritime business is moving east, and Optima positions itself at the crossroads. The Ship Recycling desk launches alongside the expansion, growing to handle 1,500+ vessels.

In 2004, the Baltic Exchange invites Optima Shipbrokers as the first Greek company to provide indices for Sale and Purchase activities, including BSPA and BDA. Optima is named Best Greek Shipbroker of the Year in 2006 and again in 2012.
From broker to maritime services firm.
The Istanbul office joins the network and existing service lines deepen: Repairs, Valuations, Finance, Research & Intelligence. Optima transforms from a traditional broker into a full maritime services firm.
Lloyd’s List recognises Optima globally.
Lloyd’s List recognises Optima among the Top 10 Shipbrokers globally in 2022 and again in 2023, an industry seal placed on a long record of independent practice.

The Repairs & Conversions desk surpasses 300 projects per year, supporting fleet decisions across every flag and every yard. Energy-efficient retrofits become a strategic instrument paired with the ESG desk.

Asia-Pacific desk goes live.
The Singapore office opens, anchoring Optima’s presence in Southeast Asia. The new desk takes the group’s tanker, gas, and APAC chartering activity closer to clients across the region.

Launch of Optima Cyber, the maritime cybersecurity division. IMO cyber compliance drives vessel security to the forefront. The same year, CSSC Guangzhou Shipyard International honours Optima with the Outstanding Shipbroker Award.
